Wonderful relaxing time in The Loft (5 star Home Away rating)
The Loft lived up to our expectations, well equipped, spacious and very clean and tidy. The pool and all the communal areas are well looked after and the staff at Lagada Resort are all very friendly. The hot tub on the roof was a real blessing as was the whole roof terrace which is ideal for al fresco dining and sun bathing. We went in October when it was very quiet and virtually were able to have the whole place to ourselves which was great. The resort is pretty easy to get to from the airport and it was easy to explore Eastern Crete from here. We had a great time, thank you very much.

We had a wonderful stay at The Loft. The photographs do not do the penthouse justice. It is beautifully presented and well maintained throughout. The inside living space is luxurious and spacious with everything we needed for our stay. The balcony on the first floor has very comfortable and modern seating, overlooking the pool and the sea. The rooftop, however, has the wow factor with more seating areas, a BBQ, sun loungers and a hot-tub. The kids squealed with delight when they first saw the rooftop. The Loft is situated in a small, quiet complex about 5 to 10 minutes drive from the small town of Makrigialos. The nearest beach is only 10 minutes walk away but it's worth the 20 minute walk to Green Beach (Diaskari) where there is a wonderful taverna with sun-loungers and hammocks. The grounds of the complex are very well maintained and the pools are wonderful. There is a small bar which has a friendly, relaxing atmosphere and is a lovely place to have a coffee or a glass of wine. The complex is managed by Areti and her team who could not have been more welcoming and friendly. One of our holiday highlights was kayaking with Antonis (who also works in the bar). He took us to the most wonderful, secluded beaches where we enjoyed a picnic he had prepared. I'd thoroughly recommend this. We absolutely loved our first experience of Greece - Crete is stunning, the food is delicious but the people are what made it for us. We never return to the same place twice but we may well make an exception!

Everything in this property on the inside and outside has been beautifully thought out. Steve and Julie have created a space that is stylish and luxurious but comfortable with everything you could need. The private roof terrace is amazing with comfy seating, fab views and of course the hot tub! As we were very early in the season the pool was a little chilly so the hot tub was great to jump in and warm up after a dip. The Loft is clean and well kept, the beds were the most comfortable we've ever had on holiday, the wi-fi was great and all the kitchen equipment was in good order. Booking with Steve and Julie was stress free and Areti the complex manager was friendly and helpful and on hand to help with advice on everything from where to eat or directions. The complex itself is also beautifully maintained with lovely planting, gorgeous pools and the lovely new Lagada Bay cafe. There is a beach two minutes walk away and the locals bars and restaurants that we tried were all great, very friendly and tasty food. We wouldn't hesitate to stay in The Loft again and would recommend it to anyone. Looking forward to visiting again soon :)

It is certainly an apartment with a lot of style and was a pleasure to return to after a long hard day on the beach. The town is about a 5 min easy drive away and there were plenty of restaurants to choose from. The beach was good with nice sunbeds and wine delivered to you from the nearest restaurant while you sunbathed - perfect :-) The communication process in booking our holiday was painless and efficient...We would recommend The Loft to anyone looking for a bit of luxury...!

'The Loft lived up to all of our expectations and more. From the information and photos pre booking and arranging the holiday, to our arrival and subsequent weeks holiday everything was exactly as outlined and expected. The apartment is spacious, stunning and well equipped. It is really accessible and has fantastic views and awesome evening sunsets from the roof terrace. So much so that we spent every evening cooking and enjoying the roof facilities to the full. The apartment is ideally located for the surrounding coastline and some great little coves and beaches and we were very sad to leave having had a fantastic weeks break and look forward to a future visit.’

'Staying at the loft was an absolute pleasure. Julie's interior design decor and furnishing is excellent, the photographs do not do this home justice. The apartment is spacious and very comfortable and everything is of a high standard. The roof terrace is enormous with luxurious touches such as the hot tub, barbecue, giant bean bags and amazing views. The complex is peaceful, you need a car to get to the town. There are 2 almost empty beaches on your doorstep and a busier one in town. We visited the restaurants Steve and Julie recommended and found the food to be of a good standard. The support Steve and Rosemary provided was second to none and we would have no hesitation in recommending the beautiful accommodation for a truly luxurious holiday.’

Cercavamo con mia moglie un appartamento per trascorrere delle vacanze rilassanti in un ambiente tranquillo, confortevole e vicino al mare stupendo di Creta.

Ho contattato Steve e ... possiamo solo che ringraziarlo per quanto ha fatto.
L'appartamento è esattamente come fotografato nel sito (comprese le lanterne e le candele!): rifinito, elegante, di lusso, dotato di tutti i comfort, xbox, smart tv, libreria con dvd, cucina completa di tutto, lavatrice. Facile da raggiungere, nelle immediate vicinanze ci sta il paesino con ristoranti e minimarket.

Sulla strada di fronte scarsissimo il traffico di macchine e motorini.

La terrazza panoramica ha l'idromassaggio .. di sera, immersi nella sua acqua calda e con le sue lucine colorate, potrete vedere sopra di voi un mare infinito di stelle e quando è alta nel cielo la luna che si specchia in lontananza sul mare davanti a voi.

L'appartamento è in un residence nuovo di lusso, dotato di tre piscine, perfettamente tenuto e con una reception sempre pronta a soddisfare ogni vostra richiesta (ad esempio ogni mattina se volete arrivano pani e dolci freschi). Inoltre avete come riferimento personale per qualsiasi problema/richiesta la sempre gentile Rosemary.

Dall'appartamento ritornando verso il paese ci sta una spiaggia stupenda, mare trasparente, poco frequentata, qualche ombrellone (con due lettini 6 Euro intera giornata, o "capannina" con amaca a 8 Euro) e una ottima taverna. Infine un ringraziamento pubblico a Steve: preciso, puntuale, corretto, sempre pronto nel rispondere a tutte le mail, oltre ad averci fatto un ottimo prezzo per il nostro soggiorno, ci ha regalato una notte per un disguido nell'appartamento di certo a lui non imputabile.

Posso solo che consigliare un soggiorno di vero riposo, relax e lusso qui!

Everything worked out very well,better than we could have hoped,and we were very pleased we went for your lovely apartment (for space and quiet) rather than the local hotels which we briefly looked at.

Thought Crete was great overall,very unspoilt around Makrigalios - our only 2 trips of note were briefly to Irepetra for shopping and to Sitia and along that coast for a drive,beautiful scenery. We didnt stop at Vai Beach as just too crowded for us after Green Beach.

Chris,Anja and Rosemary couldnt have been more helpful - great suggestions for days out and dining.We had excellent meals at Manolis in Lithines (twice),Dasaki on the last night (in the forest by a small lake), the Dragons Cave (food great,service too slow). We also had a private evening at the Observatory (the road up was a bit of a tester !) which was incredible,Philip certainly knows his stuff,as tested by both our boys !! The Green beach became our favourite,lovely sandy beach,excellent Taverna,and quiet too,good cabanas for shade.

Re the apartment,very well kitted out,balconies were superb,great views every morning. Air-con very efficient and much needed.

The images on the website raised our expectations, which is always a danger, however we were certainly not disappointed, the apartment was exactly how it looks fantastic! The kids especially liked the swimming pools!

Booking the appt with Steve and Julie was a breeze, they were both very responsive and helpful.

Makrigialos itself is a great location, not too touristy but still enough bars and restaurants to ensure you can eat and drink at a different place every night if you want to. We especially liked Olympio bar for lunch or to use the beach facilities, diskari beach and taverna for a day at the beach with hammocks and both dragons cave and Petra bay were our favourite restaurants, but its fair to say we didn't have a bad experience anywhere.

Overall a great holiday, we will be back.

Thank you for a wonderful stay at your beautiful apartment, The Loft. It is by far the most superior accommodation we have stayed in. The cold drinks in the fridge on our arrival were much appreciated after the long commute from Heraklion.

Had a great afternoon celebrating my 60th birthday at the restaurant on Diaskari beach, much recommended. Other favourite eateries are Dragons Cave and Petra Bay. Makrigialos is a truly welcoming and unspoilt place and I’m sure we will be contacting you about making a return visit to stay at The Loft in the future.

The Loft is a really stunning apartment - you've done such an amazing job with the design, fixtures and fittings. It's gorgeous In terms of going out we spent some fabulous days at various beaches. The one at Diaskari is gorgeous, but we went to some lovely deserted ones further east too.

We actually cooked a fair bit (kitchen is fantastically kitted out!), but when we did eat out we went to some of those you'd recommended - Dragon's Cave and Volsato. Food was good at both, but the service at the latter wasn't great. We also tried Gusto, which was nice.

On a whim I decided that despite having never traveled or driven abroad alone, I needed a breather. I contacted Steve/Julie on the Saturday and arrived the next day. To say they were outstanding in both their response to the initial enquiry and the multitude of emails I sent is an understatement. Nothing was too much trouble. I was given details of car hire, places to visit/eat, directions to the house, arrangements for key pickup. Everything I needed to ensure I arrived safely (which thankfully I did)

The villa itself is breathtaking. Beautifully furnished with everything you'd need for a relaxed stay. Even a welcoming bottle of wine, beer, milk and choc ices.

You will need to hire a car whilst there as it's not walking distance to anywhere but that was the charm in choosing it in the first place. Seclusion, quiet and a beach within 5 mins walk. There is also another beach less than 5 mins drive that has a taverna alongside.

As a rule I don't usually write reviews but in this instance Steve and Julie deserve a glowing review. The accommodation, location, assistance given was first class and worth every penny.

I for one, will certainly return with a smile.

Well done. For my first ever solo trip, it was an amazing success and one I'll look back on with fond memories in years to come.
