Getting around while staying at The Loft, Lagada Resort

We always advise everyone who comes to Lagada Resort to hire a car. Whether you hire a car to drive you from the airport to Markigialos and keep it for the duration of your stay, or get a transfer from
the airport and hire a car locally, you are going to miss so much if you don't explore the fantastic beaches, coves, gorges, wonderful restaurants, and so many other things that are maybe close
by, but too far to walk.

We defy anyone to say that the coastal drive from Heraklion to Makrigialos is anything other than 'spectacular'. Driving is easy in Crete, and there are plenty of petrol stations, even in out of the
way areas. Unless you are on the motorway (National Road) petrol stations tend to close around 10:00pm.

Car Rental

If you choose to hire a car from Heraklion airport, please contact us and we can recommend you to the companies that we use ourselves. If you wish to hire a car local to Lagada Resort, the on site management company can assist you with this either before or during your stay.

Taxis

There are plenty of local taxis, and they are reasonably priced. Whether you need one for a quick trip to a certain restaurant, a longer trip into Ierapetra for shopping, or even a day trip to Heraklion, it will always be easy to arrange, and you will probably get a self-appointed local guide!

Airport Transfers & Local Car Shuttle Service

The on-site management company can provide both airport transfers, and also local car shuttle services to and from Makrigialos during your stay. If you would like to request availability and pricing for airport transfers, we can put you in contact with the management company direct.

Buses

Easy & cheap. There are local services that can take you a single stop, or link in with services all over Crete.
